Three top interior designers will help you transform your bedroom into a beautiful space. For help in transforming a bedroom, we’ve reached out to the creative minds of Kari Anne Peniche-Williams, Tiffani Stutzman, and Annie Elliott, Annie Elliot Design. Their big ideas and suggestions for small details that you can incorporate into your bedroom will inspire you.
Color is key
No surprise, our designers begin by selecting a Erfahrungen Schlafzimmer color. Peniche-Williams says that you should first decide what mood or tone you want in your bedroom. Then, choose a color that best reflects that feeling.
Peniche-Williams says that strong colors are not to be avoided. I even like darker colors in small spaces . If you prefer neutral walls, paint the ceiling.
Stutzman recommends using dark colours in a bedroom. She says that soft or dark colors can create a calmer environment than bright ones. Pale blue, blush pink and light gray are some examples of soft colors that can be used for walls or rugs. Dark colors include plum, navy, and sage.
You don’t need to paint a whole bedroom, so you can choose an accent wall, even with wallpaper, to add color. You can also paint an old piece or furniture in your bedroom fun colors.
You can light it right
It’s important to have adequate lighting in your bedroom for all other activities. Designers take lighting bedrooms seriously and agree that many people underestimate the value of style light fixtures in the bedroom. Peniche-Williams suggests that you personalize your bedroom by adding a bedside lamp or chandelier to the ceiling.
According to Elliott, dimmers are essential in bedrooms because they set a mood quickly. Dimmers are also recommended for table lamps. This will instantly create a warm and cozy atmosphere. Although she doesn’t like too many overhead lights in her bedroom, she recommends that they be on dimmers.
Texture is as Cozy as it gets
Another decorating element often overlooked is the use of text. Texture adds an extra layer of luxury and comfort to the bedroom. Stutzman adds soft, soothing, and plush textures to the bedroom. He uses slippers covered in velvet, silk area rugs, faux fur throw pillows, and cable knit throws. It is better to keep objects such as a chrome light fixture or lacquered table out of a calm environment than place them in the living areas outside of the bedroom.
Elliott loves soft textures on the floor. To soothe and pamper the feet, Elliott recommends laying a small sheepskin or tanned rug on top of carpeting.
Get rid of all the clutter
Decorators agree that clutter can ruin a romantic or relaxing atmosphere. Elliot believes that a clean bedroom makes you feel more peaceful when you enter it. Elliot urges clients not to allow clutter to build up on their bedroom furniture.
Stutzman says that a bedroom cluttered with small objects can make the eye wander around the room. She says that a single large object on a bookcase, table, or bureau makes a bedroom more relaxing.
Peniche-Williams loves large headboards in bedrooms. Peniche-Williams likes to have a headboard that almost reaches the ceiling in a bedroom. It makes the bedroom feel spacious and luxurious.
Peniche-Williams says that a well-organized bedroom can also evoke a sense of calm. A small gesture like securing your artwork by attaching mounting tape behind each frame creates an atmosphere of order in the bedroom.
It’s the little things that count
Interior designers are known for having a few tricks of the trade. Our three interior designers learned a lot along the way how little touches can make a big difference in a bedroom.
Elliott’s secret weapon is to place emphasis on seasonal bedroom style. She advises that you keep your bedding in a solid color all year, and preferably in crisp white. You can change your throws and accent pillows with the seasons. For example, she’ll use a light herringbone cotton throw in summer and a plaid wool blanket in winter.
Peniche-Williams says, “Include nature into your bedroom.” A simple orchid or a small potted tree can be a soothing, purifying and beautiful addition to any decor.
Designers recommend using fresh scents to alter the mood of the room. There are many other options to enhance the smell of your bedroom, aside from candles and air fresheners. You can make your own natural room freshener using distilled water, a couple of tablespoons of rubbing alcohol and approximately two dozen drops of essential oil. The mixture can be sprayed into the air or used to spray on your sheets and mattress.
